Description
🔹 Background & Significance
The Pahlavi gold coin series represented Iran’s premier bullion currency during the reigns of Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah. The 2.5 Pahlavi was an intermediate denomination, offering more flexibility in trade and savings compared to the larger 5 and 10 Pahlavi issues.
Its obverse portrait reflects Iran’s last monarch, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, while the reverse depicts the Lion and Sun emblem, long associated with Persian royalty, surmounted by the Pahlavi crown.
Today, the 2.5 Pahlavi coin remains a highly collectible piece of Middle Eastern bullion history, valued for both its gold content and historical symbolism.
