Description
🔹 Background & Significance
The Bahar Azadi Gold Coin is Iran’s primary bullion coin, first issued in 1979 after the Iranian Revolution. It replaced the earlier Pahlavi gold coins.
“Bahar Azadi” translates to “Spring of Freedom”, commemorating the revolution’s victory. The design features Islamic architecture and calligraphy, deeply tied to Iran’s national identity.
These coins remain a major form of savings, dowries, and investment in Iran, often traded in both domestic and international gold markets. The “Full Bahar Azadi” is the most recognized, with Half, Quarter, and Tenth coins also minted.
